Honeymoon Savers
Honeymoons can add a pretty penny to the final wedding expenses. While glamorous vacations to Europe and Tahiti serve for a dream come true honeymoon, there are ways to have an incredible time and stay in budget. Get creative and see what you can come up with. Here are a few tips to get started:
Do you know any friends or family who own a timeshare? Now perhaps you’re thinking its tacky to flat out ask for them to give it to you for free. Sure- so ask them honestly how much it costs for you to rent it out for a week. Chances are, they give you a huge discount as a wedding gift.
Are you adventurous? Perhaps a fun road trip would excite you and your fiance. The open road- no SET plans.. the ability to go wherever you want and not have to catch a plane!
Another adventurous possibility would be to rent a cabin. Go somewhere beautiful- Yosemite Village has some incredible sight-seeing to be done, as well as a beautiful lodge and a very romantic restaurant for that candle-lit dinner. Or perhaps Big Bear Lake- adorable little town; great restaurants and a lot of fun outdoor activities including hikes, historical sight-seeing, and a very romantic ferry ride touring the lake.
Northern California has some great secluded beaches. Travel up there and rent a beach house. Go to the store to get some of your favorites and have a romantic time alone cooking and enjoying the beach together.
The way I see it, most newly-wed couples are financially strapped starting out. So if you can sacrifice your glamorous honeymoon, use one of these less expensive ideas and have an incredible time without spending a fortune. You can always go to Hawaii for an anniversary when the paychecks are getting bigger ![]()
