A Few Money Saving Ideas
-Buy flowers wholesale- Look up wholesale flower shops in your area. (It’s more like a warehouse.) Find a family member or friend who has a business license and have them purchase the flowers under their name. (License is necessary to buy the flowers wholesale.) Go in advance to pick out the flowers and then reserve the exact amount for pick up the morning of the wedding. For the bridesmaids bouquets, get some thick, strong ribbon that matches the colors of your wedding and pins with pearls at the end. These can both usually be found at a craft store of any kind. Arrange the flowers however you like and then tightly wrap the stems with ribbon, pinning the ribbon and the stems tightly together with 3 or so pins. For boutonnières do the same thing only using smaller ribbon. You get the idea. Get creative!
-Make your own centerpieces- you can get very creative and do something other than flowers for your centerpieces. Here is what I did at my wedding: we went to IKEA (highly recommended for centerpiece ideas). I bought tall glass cylinders (like flower vases) and put a medium sized candle inside. Surrounding the vase were small tea candles, each in their own small glass holder. Then to bring those together, I added small colored marbles with one side flat and the other rounded (they usually come in a little mesh pouch) to match the color of our wedding. To correspond with this I had small twinkle lights (white Christmas lights) in all the surrounding trees and hedges surrounding our reception. Those plus the candlelight made for beautiful evening lighting! You can do this with anything- use a glass bowl with water and floating candles; or sand with candles and seashells; add some rose petals to spice things up.
-Make your own album- find a wedding photographer who will give you all the photos on disc instead of a large package full of prints. Ask for a discounted price- you are saving the photographer time and money doing all of the printing and organizing of an album. Take your discs to an inexpensive photo lab (Costco photo does great work) and have all the pictures you want printed. You can either look up professional wedding albums online, or go to a camera shop (or even a target) and get a nice, affordable album. Put the pictures in yourself. It will still look beautiful and you can save yourself hundreds of dollars on overpriced photography!
These are just a few ideas… more money savers to come!
