Just Breathe

Published by weddingwisdom at 1:54 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

In movies we always hear brides say something like this, “I just want to make sure everything goes exactly, perfectly right.” Has there ever been a day in your life with NO mistakes or frustrations? No. We stub our toe, break a dish, are late for a meeting, the car wont start, etc. So don’t expect your wedding day to have a magic halo of protection around it either. Things go wrong- that’s just life. As a bride, you can take precautions. Have back-up plans. Delegate responsibilities so everything is taken care of. Make sure communication is clear to those people who are facilitating the event. But, when something tiny goes wrong, it doesn’t mean your wedding day is a bust. Just breathe and move on. When my father walked me down the isle at my wedding, we stopped before the altar to light a candle in honor of my mother who passed when I was young. The match my father had lit blew out and we had to try a few times. Instead of panicking that we were off on the timing of the song, we both quietly laughed and enjoyed the moment remembering my mother. By the time we got to the altar, the song was finishing perfectly. Had the candle lighting gone faster, we actually would have been ahead of the song. Whether it’s something small like that or something much larger, just remember what this day is all about. You got married today! And nothing can ruin that! How you respond to these situations on your wedding day is an attitude choice. I have seen many brides tense and irritated at their wedding. How terrible is it to spend the day like that? Choose to be overjoyed regardless of how the day goes!
